The purpose of our 2020 Hoyt Lifeblood Film Contest is to build a better sense of community among bowhunters. Our goal is to give people a platform (viewable by the public) to create and tell their stories. With this project we also hope to reach beyond the hunting community. We want the message of conservation through meaningful and quality storytelling to be told – and by the people who live it. Ultimately, we want to aid in growing and uniting the bowhunting community.

The 2020 Hoyt Lifeblood Film Contest (“Contest”) will be a collection of videos made and submitted by users of Hoyt bows. We started this contest not to see who kills the largest buck, but to see who can tell the best story and share the hunting lifestyle in creative and positive ways. You do not have to fill your tag to submit. In fact, you don’t have to be a hunter – this could simply be about archery.
To enter the Contest, Entrant must submit their video entry, together with the Entrant’s return physical address (not a P.O. Box), and within the Entry Period, using the following method:
Submit at www.hoytlifeblood.com

- include a Hoyt® bow as the primary method of take
- be a minimum resolution of 1080p

- include the Hoyt Lifeblood animated logo as part of your intro (logo file is available as a download from www.hoytlifeblood.com)
- be suitable for publication on streaming digital platforms and must be in any of the following formats: 3GPP, AVI, FLV, MOV, MPEG4, MPEGPS, WebM and WMV.
- be formatted for online streaming.
Video entries that meet all Contest requirements will be reviewed and judged by an internal team of Hoyt professionals who are passionate about archery and storytelling. The standards by which video entries will be judged include:
- Storytelling skills (30%) – story has a clear message and a unique storyline. Storytelling is compelling, engaging, and entertaining.
- Creativity (30%) – Story is presented in an interesting way. Execution is visually appealing and captivating.
- Emotional Impact (20%) – Creates a lasting impression and elicits an emotional response.
- Sound (10%) – Music (if included) is fitting. Voice and sounds add rather than distract.
- Structure (10%) – Story is arranged logically. Length is approximately 10 minutes or less.
In the event of a tie between any of the top three (3) entries, the entries that score the highest on the more heavily weighted standards will win.
The three (3) Contest winners will receive prize packages that include the following:
- Grand Prize: Seven Thousand Dollars ($7,000) and two (2) Hoyt Carbon REDWRX bows.
- Second Prize: Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3,500) and one (1) Hoyt Carbon REDWRX bow.

If a winner cannot be contacted within five (5) business days after the first attempt to contact him/her, the Sponsor may select an alternate winner in his/her place at random from the remaining entries.
As further set forth in the General Rules of the Contest:
- Films must be the original work of the applicants.
